Ima Hogg spet most of her life and her Texas wealth to benefit the legacy to the citizens of Texas. After her fathers death a painter painted a portrait of Jim. She then donated it to a museum and some land and some land as a state park in his memory. While she was depressed she bought her first peace of American art and her passion went on from there. Ima told her brother "we have a rare opportunity to collect American antiques for a museum in Texas. It's never been done before." The more and more pieces of art work she purchased, Bayou Bend began to form.
Many Texas museums came to be because of Miss Ima. She was know to be a collector of art around the Texas. She donated her home Bayou Bend to the city of Houston. She bought more and more furniture and eventually made a museum. She donated her house to the city of Houston. The reason she donated her house was because it was like a museum with a lot of memories.
